Let’s face it, it’s hard to get enthusiastic about dentistry! Most of us still hark back to the dark ages, tales of bad times and bad experiences. I’m a Dentist and even I don’t like having my own teeth fiddled with!
Modern dentistry has so much more to offer us in terms of what can be achieved, but it’s still so often the case that people undervalue the importance of their teeth in their day to day lives. Teeth help us get the maximum nutrients out of the food we eat (unless you prefer a liquid diet?) and as such, help us to live longer and healthier lives.
Dental Implants are not new on the scene but, in the UK, our uptake of this treatment option is so often seen as ‘too expensive’. There is no doubt that dental implants are costly in the short term, compared to some conventional treatment options, but the benefits for your health and quality of life in having a fixed dentition is scientifically proven. That’s valid scientific research, not the 8 out of 10 cats variety!
Replacing teeth that are lost with implants, protect the remaining teeth from all sorts of functional troubles, enables you to eat well, speak well and have confidence in your gnashers! Even if you no longer have any teeth, implants can be used to successfully stabilise loose dentures or even replace dentures completely.
I’ve been placing implants since 2007 and if I lost a tooth it would be my ‘go to’ option. Ask your dentist about implants or come along for a consultation with me at the Minster Dental Centre.
